Several years ago I went to Åndalsnes with my good friend Andrew Warren to explore a different part of Norway’s vast wilderness. What we found was incredible ice everywhere we looked and hardly another team in the valley to share it with. Snow conditions weren’t as good as we had hoped for skiing, but it was no loss as the entire valley was dripping with incredible waterfall ice. As we explored further off the beaten track we had a chance encounter with a free falling red deer that nearly killed us both as it cartwheeled down the frozen mountain. Good timing and a lot of luck meant we walked away with nothing more than an outrageous story to tell, which I honestly doubt anyone would believe if we haven’t captured the whole saga on video
